01 / The problem
Most Christmas sites are a page of ads with a countdown on top. Families deserved a place to visit.
Santa’s Village is a product we make and run ourselves. Twelve buildings, from Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen to the Observatory, each hold their own kind of December: recipes, bedtime stories, songs, games and letters to Santa.
The rule from day one: one quiet ad at the end of a page, never personalised and never inside a game, and everything a child makes stays on their device.
02 / The system
Night sky, lantern gold, one berry red.
A dark winter palette with snow-white type and lantern gold for the warm moments. Berry red is kept for the one action that matters on each screen. A storybook display face carries the headings and the countdown; a plain, round sans keeps the reading easy for parents and children.

03 / The build
A village you can turn in your hand.
The home screen is a live 3D village you drag to turn and tap to enter. Around it the site behaves like an app: a bottom bar on phones, a rail on desktop, a motion setting, and English, Dutch, French and Greek. Out of season the village sleeps, with a countdown until the elves wake in November.
